About Airquote

Our Mission

Airquote exists to make verified, properly attributed quotes accessible through a modern API. In an era where AI-generated content can fabricate quotes and misattribute ideas, we believe accurate sourcing matters more than ever.

How It Works

At its core, Airquote uses semantic search powered by vector embeddings and pgvector. When you search for a concept, we encode your query into an embedding and find the closest matching quotes by meaning -- not just by keyword overlap.

For enhanced queries, we leverage Claude by Anthropic to provide contextual recommendations. Claude analyzes your query, the intended audience, and the available quotes to surface the most relevant results with relevance explanations.

Our Data

Airquote is built on the QuoteKG dataset, a structured knowledge graph of quotations with rich metadata including authors, sources, dates, and categories.

Every quote has a verification level:

• Primary -- Traced directly to a published, peer-reviewed, or first-hand source.
• Secondary -- Attributed via reliable secondary sources such as biographies or established reference works.
• Attributed -- Commonly attributed but not yet traced to a primary source. These quotes are clearly marked.
